Our factory represents a significant milestone in our journey of being fully off grid. The site is powered by solar panels, battery storage, renewable heating and also has electric vehicle charging stations. With financial support from enterprising Barnsley we have showcased what modern power solutions can deliver when innovation and sustainability work together.
Harnessing Renewable power: 360 Solar Panels Across the Roof
The factory roof currently houses 360 high performance solar panels. These have been carefully installed to maximise energy through the whole year. This system enables us to operate off grid- significantly reducing our carbon footprint and protecting the business from fluctuating energy costs.
These panels generate clean electricity from sunrise to sunset, providing electricity to both our factory floor services and offices. The scale of this installation provides immediate environmental benefits and longer term renewable energy solutions. It demonstrates that Anderson Power Generation can have critical infrastructure run sustainably without comprising on performance.
Battery Storage: Storing energy
We have installed a battery storage system, allowing us to store surplus energy during periods of sunlight. Meaning that we can store it for use on cloudy days, evenings or whenever demand increases.
Battery storage plays an essential role in balancing supply and demand, helping us maintain a reliable and efficient off grid model. We have created a more resilient and self sufficient facility removing reliance of external energy providers.
Renewable Heating: Efficient Heat Pump
To create a more sustainable building we decided to step away from traditional heating methods and install a modern heat pump system. This allows the site to benefit from efficient heating and cooling with lower carbon emissions.
The heat pump is far more efficient than conventional systems and this has reduced running costs, improved comfort for the team and we have taken steps forward in meeting our own sustainability commitments.
Low Carbon Travel: Five EV Charging Stations
Our sustainability efforts go beyond our factory walls, we now have 5 EV charging stations on site for our fleet of electric cars. Both our clients and team members can all benefit from reliable charging during the day.
With the offer of EV charging on site we are removing barriers to the adoption of cleaner transport and supporting more sustainable travel. We have reduced emissions across several parts of our operations.
